Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis Buoys
Deep-ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunamis Buoys transmit data from deep below the ocean surface with depts reaching up to six thousand meters. Under normal conditions it transmits data every six hours. The report consists of twenty-four samples of fifteen second averages, fifteen minutes apart. When the buoy software detects a tsunami, it triggers event mode, and transmits data every minute. A more detailed description is available at NOAA Center for Tsunami research.
To capture and record this unique behavior we have added two pressure sensors for each DART® buoy, one for default mode (prt) and the other for events (prte). We included more than one-hundred buoys in this manner. These buoys are listed by NOAA or are part of the New Zealand DART® network.
We always aim to deliver reliable and comprehensive real-time reporting. Therefore, we retrieve data from webservices as well as the Global Telecommunication System (GTS).
